Desktop Management Interface
Abbreviation: DMI
Within a computer system, there is a gap between management
software and the system's components that require management.
Managers must understand how to manipulate information on a
constantly growing number of products. In order for products to
be manageable, they must know the intricacies of complex encoding
mechanisms and foreign registration schemes.
The Desktop Management Interface, or DMI, that acts as a layer of
abstraction between these two worlds.
